Happy happy 2018!

***

Good morning, and I do hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas?

Ours was particularly relaxing and calm this year, and it has left me feeling recharged and ready for the new year ahead, and excited to achieve various goals!

I have never been very fond of the term 'new year resolutions' but prefer the idea of 'new year intentions'....a far more positive approach I think!

Along with the usual fitness goals (aren't they on everyone's list at this time of year?!) and eating well (without our health, the rest can't happen)  I also intend to carry on trying to be ever more in the present and to not take anything for granted. To continue to be inquisitive about the world and to keep exploring (especially the road less travelled), but also to be mindful of life's wonderful simple pleasures that we surround ourselves with each day.  To continue to enjoy nature, my dogs, the sanctuary of home, the kindness and friendship of lovely friends and my wonderful family.

My blog too means so much to me, because of the wonderful community of like minded readers who kindly log on to read and I have pledged to spend more time on it, so just to warn you, there will be far more regular posts!  I shall continue to write about our travels, places that interest me, our continuing evolving garden and also my beloved organic kitchen garden, and hopefully some delicious recipes.  Interiors and design, and perhaps a little fashion and beauty too.  Basically fun and interesting lifestyle topics that inspire me! Do let me know if there is anything in particular that you like to read about?

There is also an exciting new venture which I am working on for this year, and I look forward to revealing all in the coming weeks...stay tuned!

I am also very excited to say that for my next blog post I shall be reporting about the highlights of a trip to Australia, which Mr. W and I are making at the end of the week!  Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are on our itinerary so I look forward to sharing my discoveries in these wonderful cities!  I shall of course be sharing my time there on Instagram, while I am there, so do follow if you are not already @sophiahomeandlifestyle

Do you have any 'new year intentions' for 2018?  I would love to hear from you!

Thank you so much for your continued readership, I can't tell you how much it means to me.  Wishing you all a very happy, fulfilling and above all, healthy new year ahead!

'G's Kitchen'

Good morning!
Today I would like to introduce you all to someone special in my life, and that is my gorgeous, talented, funny, kind and very inspirational daughter Georgie.....OK, I'm sorry, but we Mums can hopefully be excused from feeling a little proud!

'G's Kitchen'

Some of you who follow me on Instagram (@sophiahomelifestyle) or have seen one or two small features on the blog in the past, will know that Georgie works as a 'Private chef' in London.
With a six year career to date, having firstly trained here in the UK, she has cooked for many clients around the world.  Now settled back in London, she is very busy continuing her private chef and catering business 'G's Kitchen'.

'G's Kitchen'

With an emphasis on exciting, healthy, nutritious food (with the odd naughty treat too of course!) that looks gorgeous as well as tastes good, her clients love her fresh approach to serving the very best quality ingredients in a stylish way....from small private dinner parties to canapés for 100 plus people.  With a strong leaning towards Asian inspired dishes, although many cuisines and special dietary requirements is a request that Georgie openly loves to receive.

I am excited to say that Georgie has recently joined the blogging community, so if you are looking for some healthy inspiration and new delicious culinary ideas (I know I do!) then click on the link here, and pop over to see her at
'G's Kitchen'.  Do introduce yourself, as I know she would love to hear from you.

As well as sharing her mouthwatering recipes, Georgie will also be sharing her favourite restaurants, markets and places to go in London, as well as her love of fashion, interiors and shopping.....like mother like daughter!

'Comfortably English' is how Alison the founder and creator of 'Cowparsley at home' sums up perfectly, the company's newly launched range of beautiful wallpapers....

Having long been a regular reader of her lovely blog 'Cowparsley',  I was so happy to see Alison realise her dream of launching her first collection of exquisite wallpapers.  Proud to be a British brand, all of the wallpapers are traditionally printed in Leicestershire, England by 'Anstey wallpaper company' where they have been producing wallpapers for over 100 years, using high quality techniques.
Knowing how wonderfully stylish the 'Cowparsley' blog was, I knew that they would be special....

How thrilled I was, when a parcel arrived in the post a few weeks ago from Alison, with samples of seven beautiful designs for me to see...

'Rabbits and Daisies'

'Rocking Horse and Stars'

'Dummer Rose'

'Happy Bees'

'Florence Stripe' and 'Bantham Stripe'

The inspiration behind these charming designs is summed up beautifully by Alison, in her own words:

'Inspired by country childhood memories and soft, faded English florals.  I wanted to capture the aged elegance and comfort of relaxed family houses, where decoration and much loved possessions have evolved along with the people that live there and the passing years.  The designs are quintessentially English in their feel, and is the inspiration behind them.  'Comfortably English' is the very essense of Cowparsley.'

With a range of fabrics to follow shortly....'Cowparsley at home' is set to be a perfect choice for the classic English look.

If you would like to incorporate Cowparsley at home's beautiful designs in your own home, do visit their lovely website here.

I am certainly wishing for a client project in the future in which to use these gorgeous designs...a child's nursery maybe...those rabbits and rocking horses are just adorable!

Happy Thursday!
Are you enjoying this beautiful Autumn weather?  Certainly here in the UK, we have had the most glorious days with sunshine and mild temperatures.  Things are set to change this weekend though….but the thought of lighting the fire, cosy evenings and a change of pace are all very welcome.  I adore all the seasons, and Autumn and Winter bring their own sense of beauty that I could not live without.

I apologise for the lack of blog posts recently, but it has been rather hectic here.  Busy with client design projects, and garden projects amongst many things, although it hasn't all completely been work and no rest….last weekend was a very special celebration and treat!  A dear and very generous girlfriend of mine Sarah and her husband, invited thirty-eight of us out to Seville for her big birthday celebrations.  Four days of partying in the most magical of places called Trasierra, up in the mountains outside Seville.  I look forward to sharing this wonderful place with you here shortly!

So, a short post today, while I catch up with myself and do some work….but I plan to share far more with you this Autumn on the blog.  More of what inspires me, from design inspiration, home and garden projects, delicious recipes and places and people of interest.  Thank you so much to all of you, all around the world, who take the time to pop in to 'Sophia Home' on a regular basis to read me….it means so much to me!  I always love your feedback, so do get in touch in the comments section or email me via my design website here.

Happy Autumn days!

A BUSY WEEK…AND A BIG THANK YOU!

Thursday evening already….where has the week gone?!  I have been super busy with design projects recently.  A new installation at one client (who said she was 'over the moon' which always makes me happy, and my job so worthwhile!),  the ongoing updating of a beautiful Georgian Priory, and in contrast, a virtual 'new build's' electric and lighting scheme…..yes, super busy.  Thankfully I LOVE my job!

I haven't forgotten to post about my recent trip to beautiful Stockholm….a few more photos to sort, from the hundreds that I took.
Hopefully soon I promise!

Happy Thursday evening, whatever you have planned,  and before I go I would like to say a very big thank you to very talented Sarah, who writes the lovely and inspirational blog

What a wonderful surprise to find that she had so kindly written about my home in her recent post….do click on the above link to see it if you have a moment, and to read more of Sarah's articles on modern country design and style, which I know you will love!

A LOVELY INVITATION!

I have long been a follower of renowned English TV broadcaster, writer, cook, gardener and teacher 'Sarah Raven'.  Sarah is a presenter on BBC Gardener's World, writes for various publications as well as having produced numerous award winning gardening and cookery books.  An inspirational and passionate teacher, she also runs cookery, flower arranging, and gardening courses at her family home and farm 'Perch Hill', East Sussex.  Married to writer Adam Nicholson, the grandson of Vita Sackville-West, they divide their time between Perch Hill and 'Sissinghurst Castle' Kent.

With a fabulous website with on-line shop, recipes, gardening advice and interesting articles, along with a gorgeous, inspiring seasonal mail order catalogue, it has always been a favourite choice for me when it comes to buying seeds, plants and bulbs, along with lovely things for the home and garden.

Linked to the Sarah Raven website, can be found their lovely blog 'Garlic and Sapphire',  created by the Sarah Raven team who have brought together a selection of bloggers from around the UK,  who are passionate about gardening, cooking, local produce and beautiful flowers.

You can imagine how delighted I was to be asked the other day to write a 'guest post' for 'Garlic & Sapphire', and even more so to now be invited to join their regular team of writers!  You can find my newly published post here, and I am looking forward to contributing regular articles on their lovely blog, about all things garden and kitchen related, with the addition of one or two other favourite topics too no doubt!

So when you have a moment, do hop over to the 'Sarah Raven' website and their 'Garlic and Sapphire' blog for some great inspiration for the coming season!

Wishing you all a very happy weekend!

BLOG ANNIVERSARY!

Photo: Sophia Home

***

Good morning!
When I sat down at my desk this morning, it dawned on me that it must be nearing a year since I started writing my 'Sophia Home' blog.
On checking the archives, I realised that yesterday was my 1st year blog anniversary.....where has the year gone!  When I set out on this little journey last September,  I had no idea what a fascinating, enjoyable adventure it would be!

Having enjoyed reading other interior and lifestyle blogs for a number of years, I finally plucked up the courage to start my own.  I am sure that many of you fellow bloggers out there can relate to the memory of that nerve racking feeling the first time that you press the 'publish' button for your first post......out in to the 'blogosphere'....wondering if anyone out there is actually going to read, let alone be interested in, what you have to say!
For any of you out there reading this, who are contemplating starting your own blog for the first time, my advice is to just do it!
I needn't have worried about starting one and wish that I had a long time ago.  Fellow 'bloggers' around the world who write about similar design and lifestyle subjects have proved to be beyond friendly and generous with their time and interest, and I have discovered a community of like minded souls....who share a love of all things 'Home' along with a array of lifestyle topics.

'Sophia Home' has brought so much fun to this past year, and has been a wonderful creative outlet to run alongside my interiors business.  It has been a chance to share with others my passion for not only beautiful interiors, but also my love of the 'home', and especially my own that my husband and I have created from scratch, along with the surrounding nature and countryside we so enjoy. To write about the ongoing landscaping of our garden....especially my beloved kitchen garden and vegetable growing, and to share with you the projects and recipes that go hand in hand with this.  I have so enjoyed recounting our travels and recommendations for restaurants and places to visit too.

Above all though,  what I was not prepared for, was the lovely feed back from so many of you....although I know that many of you are still shy to leave comments, I know you read me every day and that means so much to me.  To see my readership grow, not just here in the UK but all around the world, has been an overwhelming thing.....and I thank each and every one of you for showing an interest and reading me most days!

Thank you also to all of you extraordinarily talented people out there who bring so much inspiration and enjoyment to my own reading....there are some wonderful blogs, full of creative talent, thoughts and ideas, so thank you for sharing these too!

On this first blog anniversary, I would also like to make a special mention to the first ever fellow blogger who contacted me....something one always remembers....and that is Greet Lefèvre from the beautiful Belgian design blog 'Belgian Pearls'.  Being a great admirer of Belgian interiors, I was so pleased to find Greet's beautiful and stunningly inspirational blog and had enjoyed reading it for some time, and it was indeed one of several that inspired me to start my own.  That first kind, friendly and encouraging email from her meant so much to me in those early days of writing last year, and I was particularly touched when to my surprise a couple of days ago, she kindly featured 'Sophia Home' on her lovely blog......thank you so much Greet!  If you haven't visited 'Belgian Pearls' before....I urge you to do so right now.  Greet is a talented Belgian designer, who together with her husband runs Lefèvre Interiors who are  fourth generation cabinet makers....creating the most stunning installations. You will find wonderful inspiration from her beautiful articles.  It is always lovely when a new friendship blossoms from common interests....and I hope to be meeting up with Greet in early December when I plan to visit beautiful Bruges!

So thank you again to all my lovely readers.....if there is something you would like to chat about, do please leave a comment next time, or get in touch with me via my website at www.sophiawadsworthinteriors.co.uk......I would love to hear from you!

Happy blogging and have a lovely day!
