PREPARING FOR SPRING!
|Photos: Sophia Home|
Yesterday was a busy day in the garden......with weeding, digging, clearing, sweeping and mulching the rose garden and the raised beds in my kitchen garden. Jobs that need to be done before the marathon of seed sowing in the greenhouse that I look forward to each year.
Signs of life in the form of very small shoots on the roses was so encouraging......hard to believe that in a few weeks time this area at the back of our house will be awash with colour. Pink and white roses of 'Sweet Hermione', 'Rose of England' and 'William and Catherine' were planted last year, along with many tulips and alliums. The box hedging is gradually taking shape and our deck and potager enclosure are beginning to fade to a soft grey. Our garden is still very much in its infancy and it is hard to believe that four years ago this area was an ugly car park........Our vision spurs us on!
A back breaking day, but a satisfying one. Made even better by the restorative post gardening glass of wine in the bath!
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!
