 A VERY SPECIAL MOUNTAIN RETREAT...

Good morning!
Firstly I hope you all had a happy and relaxing Easter weekend?
Many apologies for the lack of blog posts recently.  It has been a very busy time, with design projects coming to fruition, and new ones beginning.  I also took a week out, for a wonderful ski trip with my family, and it is the very special mountain retreat that we stayed at, that I would like to share with you today.

Deep in the heart of the Monterosa ski area in the Italian Alps, above the relaxed and friendly ski resort of Champoluc, you will find the hidden gem that is called 'Frantze'....

Discovered for the first time last year, we could not wait to return.

Frantze is a beautifully restored former 'Rascard' built in 1721....a rascard being a farm building built in the traditional method, and supported on staddle stones.  Every attention to detail has been given to this beautiful building, which is now an exclusive chalet hotel, run by the wonderful 'Francesca' and her delightful family.

Reached only on foot or by skis, it is the perfect place for those looking for a relaxing hideaway up in the mountains.  The perfect sanctuary to recharge, feel totally in touch with nature, feel the calmness of the mountains, and enjoy special time with friends and family.

Rooms are warm and very comfortable....

...and the restaurant is very cosy!

We were spoilt with delicious, hearty Italian mountain cooking, cooked by Francesca's aunt...

a good reason to ski hard each day, in the perfect snow conditions and beautiful sunshine!

We really do think this is one of the most magical places we have ever stayed, and my family and I can not wait to return next year...

Really I shouldn't be sharing the secret of this truly magical place...?!
